Recently I realized that instead of wondering "What I am going to do today?" I need to start wondering "What am I going to do with ELSY today?" She is getting old enough to where she likes to go out and do things instead of playing in the corner of books for an hour. So during lunch I was going over ideas in my mind and thought why not just find everything green in the apartment in celebration of St. Patrick's Day? So we did.
Okay she didn't learn the word green, or even learn to recognize it when I tried to get her to grab out the green spoons from the other colors. In fact she kind of just was quiet and stared as I carried her around saying "Green!" as we picked up everything I could see that was green. But she DID like reading all the green books (mostly because she likes it when I read to her, not particularly because they were green) and she did have a great time playing in her pile of green.

I handed her her rainbow sunglasses and sock monkey and explained about gold at the end of rainbows. She didn't get it... but she is starting to get that sunglasses go on her face.
We had a fun, green afternoon.
P.S. My Grandma Merkley sent us a fun card in the mail that told us we can claim Irish roots because my 5 greats grandfather Jacob married Sarah Warnock, an Irish lass. They had 8 children and 81 grandchildren.
